On Saturday September 14th, the 10 Greater Manchester Boroughs will be hosting the Finish Stage of the 2019 OVO Energy Tour of Britain cycle race. The race will pass through Woodford, Bramhall, Hazel Grove, High Lane, Marple, Marple Bridge and Compstall during the morning of that day. The route has now been finalised and is indicated at the link below:

Rolling road closures, managed centrally by Tour of Britain, will be in place for the duration of the race. At the moment it is anticipated that the roads will be closed for a maximum of 30 minutes. The video below gives a short introduction to the Tour Of Britain.

The organisers are keen for Local Authorities to make sure that there is a great reception for the Tour as it passes though the Borough, maximising audiences, animation of spaces and complementary activity with 4 key focuses:

· Community engagement: Getting people lining the route, putting on activities along the route, getting schools involved, cycling themed art installations etc etc
· Physical activity: Promoting the benefits of getting active – working to align with Greater Manchester Moving Activity and LDP projects with activity along the route
· Sustainable transport/air quality: Encouraging people to have a go at cycling, thinking about switching transport modes, finding out about traffic free routes/Beelines etc
· Business engagement: Getting local businesses along the route potentially sponsoring events/activities and generally supporting the initiative
