The A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road is nearly finished and you a chance to explore it for yourself before it opens to traffic!

On Sunday 7th October, a day of community sporting activities for all the family will be taking place on the new road, giving you a chance to come along and join in the fun, as well as get an up-close look at the work that’s been taking place.

Whether you like to run, walk or cycle there will be something for everyone to enjoy, so why not put it in your diary?

The day will kick off at 10am with a 5km chip timed run along part of the road, before a host of cycling, walking and athletics events take place on the road between 11am and 3pm. Events taking place will include:

• “Let’s Ride” with British Cycling
• Stockport Wheelchair Racing Club providing some taster sessions
• Cycle skills training and information on local opportunities
• Fun games and athletics for all ages
• A chance to walk or cycle along parts of the new road

All of the events will be free for everyone, but places in the 5k need registering in advance on Eventbrite.

Cllr Jon Twigge, Hazel Grove Cllr said “We have been waiting for the new road to the airport from some time and it is great news that it is finally opening. It will tranform journeys to the airport and make it much easier for Hazel Grove residents to get new jobs at the airport as it expands”.
