The local community social network Streetlife has merged into a larger system called Nextdoor, that also allows people to communicate about local issues in your area.

Nextdoor looks more focused with smaller community areas and some different features.

If you want to keep in touch with neighbours about local issues you can join at www.nextdoor.co.uk.  The system is free and aims to help build communities and communication.

Nextdoor also allows public organisations to join to keep in touch with residents for events and emergencies – something that might have helped at the time of the floods.  I am going to ask the council to add this as another way to stay in touch with the public a bit like it does with Facebook and Twitter but more community focused.
