Return to Local Policing – Station To Open 24 Hours

by jontwigge on 20 September, 2016

From 26th September Hazel Grove Police Station is to be manned around the clock, one of four in Stockport.

Superintendent Jo Rogerson says officers being based out of an additional three stations is something that will make a difference to the community. “It allows officers to respond quickly to incidents near them and also helps them understand the issues that are most important to their local community. Local knowledge should increase.

“It is a return to local policing, it is very exciting.”

“Alongside all of the other changes that we are seeing, this is our opportunity to work together and shape the future of policing and continue to develop to ensure we are focused on keeping people safe.”

Very good news. It can feel we are a bit of an afterthought for GMP, right on the edge of the force area. It will be good to see a few more bobbies around, even if they arn’t on the beat.
