by jontwigge on 4 August, 2016

Solutions SK, working on behalf of Stockport Council, will be undertaking drainage repairs and improvement works on the A6 in Hazel Grove, between the junctions with Spring Vale and Brook Street.  These works will take place between 8th August 2016 and 19th August 2016.

There will be a nearside southbound lane closure between the hours of 9.00am and 3.30pm only.

Surely the A6 is not being dug up not many weeks after it was re surfaced !!

Agree. This is close to the spot opposite McDonald’s where resurfacing – and a very neat job too – took place only a few weeks back. Is it beyond the wit of man – or woman – for repairs of this sort to be co-ordinated so that they can be done at the same time, thus minimizing both costs and congestion due to lane closures?

It is scandalous the way work on roads saves costs by inconveniencing peoples’ travel to their places of work and preventing deliveries. It may save public costs, but it impacts on everyone else in fuel costs, loss of valuable working hours and revenue to all kinds of businesses. It isn’t as though those employed to carry out the work on the roads exert themselves particularly, you only have to watch them for a few minutes to realise the laughably low amount of work that is actually being done at any particular time.
