Team mourns Jo Cox MP

by paulankers on 17 June, 2016

On Thursday 16th May 2016, Batley & Spen Labour MP Jo Cox was murdered whilst conducting her regular duties.

The Lib Dem team in Hazel Grove were appalled by these events and express their sympathy to her family. The motives for the murder are unclear and you can get speculation elsewhere. What is beyond speculation is what a force for good she was with her work with Oxfam & over Syria on an international level. But closer to her home – she also fought for a school crossing in Batley.

Whereas we will disagree with politicians of differing parties we can never deny the commitment nor desire to improve things. Today, we wish them well. Often we would call them our political enemies, but our real enemies are those people who seek not to fight via the ballot box, but via the knife, the bomb or the gun.

When that happens, all politicians are the same. Because they are all on the same side. Against terror of whatever kind.
