Each year since 1988 Stockport Normandy Veterans have travelled back to France to commemorate the D-Day Landings, remember their experience and pay respect to the men who did not survive.
This year, for the first time, the Veterans are unable to travel to Normandy. Instead they are holding a special service in Stockport to remember their D-Day campaign.
During the service the Stockport Normandy Veterans memorial tablet, which was laid-up in the War Memorial in 1994, will be blessed and the story of its journey from Normandy will be re-told.
There will be refreshments followed by an illustrated talk about the D-Day Landings.
An exhibition of professionally taken photographs of the Veterans and their biographies will be displayed.
All are welcome. Free admission.
