Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) have big plans for tickets across the region.
From this summer, you will be able to buy tickets allowing travel on both buses and trams for various periods. The aim is to make public transport more accessible to more people.
In 2019 the first contactless payments will be introduced on trams making getting onto them easier and faster. This will later, in 2020, be extended to the buses as well.
Following the introduction of a back office computer system tracking journeys in 2019 you will no longer need to buy individual tickets. This be rolled out across all services by 2021. If you open an account then the system will automatically charge you the cheapest fares for the journeys that you make whether it be for a single journey, across a week or month.
