Standing up for Hazel Grove All Year Round Learn more

Stagecoach have announced that the Monday to Saturday daytime 373 service is being withdrawn from July 24th. The service runs from Hazel Grove train station, via the Rising Sun and up to Stepping Hill hospital.
The announcement says that alternatives are available but we would like to hear from you if this change affects you, particularly as the 373 goes to the hospital itself rather than past on the A6 like most of the other buses. With very little notice of this change we would also be grateful if you let us know of any friends or neighbours that are affected too.
We are asking if this change can be delayed for a while until we establish who will be affected so please let us know if you are adversely affected as soon as possible.

I’m not surprised that the 373 is to be withdrawn as, from what I’ve seen, it appears to be very little used and, indeed, frequently runs empty.
I’ve assumed that Stagecoach tried it primarily as an experiment to see if staff, out-patients and in-patients’ visitors, baulking at the cost and difficulty of parking on the hospital site, would be prepared to leave their cars at the new, free – and usually three-quarters empty! – park-and-ride and do the last bit of their journey on the 373.
But apparently not! Still, congratulations to Stagecoach for their enterprise in piloting an imaginative idea, which I’d have thought might have been taken up rather more than it has been.
