Standing up for Hazel Grove All Year Round Learn more

The Council has announced a freeze on applications for new Residents Parking schemes for the next few months, and the development of a new scheme for residents parking.
There will no doubt be a consultation on the new proposals in 2019.
Here’s what we’ve been told by the Council:
2 CommentsWe are aware that there are a number of concerns regarding residents parking schemes and the various pressures around parking. Stockport Council adopted its most recent general parking policy in 2013 which included resident’s parking schemes and various other general parking policies.
Since then there has been substantial changes in a number of associated areas and policies including increasing use of electric vehicles, air quality concerns and increasing car ownership which are staring to impact on delivery of the various policy objectives.
Cllr Bailey [the responsible Cabinet Member] has requested that we undertake a review of our existing parking policies which would also support the local plan development. It is proposed that this review commences in January 2019 and will include a review of the overall framework and also of potential options for the future delivery of residential parking schemes.
Whilst this review is taking place it is proposed that no further resident parking schemes are progressed except for a couple of schemes which will be developed as pilots incorporating potential new approaches to managing the competing needs for parking within an area. One of these schemes will be around Stepping Hill hospital.
If its stops people running the leads for their electric cars across the footpath it will be a good thing.
Dear Lib Dem team
Please can I ask for clarification and if possible more information on what is actually meant by…
“except for a couple of schemes which will be developed as pilots incorporating potential new approaches to managing the competing needs for parking within an area. One of these schemes will be around Stepping Hill hospital.”
Might I ask are these new approaches in line with the new proposals for SHH.”
As a resident who lives within one of these schemes I was a bit surprised that the first time I heard anything about these changes for schemes in Hazel Grove was when a leaflet from the SNAG group landed on my doorstep.
I find it even more surprising to read the above which was over a year ago and yet we are only now hearing about these new proposals through a leaflet from SNAG.
I note on the SNAG website that Charles Gibson put forward at the area committee meeting his slight concerns that a one for all scheme will probably not suit all.
I cannot help but feel that if any changes to any current scheme must and should be done for every zone within zone H1.
If they are the same proposals as commented on the SNAG website then they only single out certain streets that are closest to the hospital.
This will result in these streets taken the blunt of any new pay by mobile meter scheme and will create many issues that as a resident of Green Lane I am prepared to outline to your team.
I am happy to call to one of your next open surgeries(if you could email the next date) with a list of reasons to put forward at your next area committee meeting. That is if it is our zone H1 that is being nominated as a so called new pilot scheme.
I can appreciate as a team you must be very busy especially in view of the bad weather and the concerns over flooding.
However I would appreciate an opportunity to put some points across.
Thank you
Kind regards
Anne
