The new bypass from Hazel Grove to the Airport (incorporating and existing part of the A555) will open on Monday 15th October.

The road has been long needed and campaigned for by many but especially former LibDem MPs Mark Hunter and Andrew Stunell when they were at Westminster.

Cllr Paul Ankers said, “There is a long list of benefits here. It will reduce congestion in Hazel Grove and in central Stockport. I think this will have a positive impact on some of our bottlenecks on Torkington Rd and Commercial Rd. I am hopeful it can improve road safety on the A6 too.
