Dean Lane Congestion Tackled by Fiveways Improvements

by paulankers on 30 January, 2020

Local people have long complained about congestion on Dean Lane heading to Fiveways, a problem that got worse when the A555 opened increasing demand.

Your LibDem Councillors have worked hard to find a solution with Council officers. A development has been secured that will allow a dedicated right hand filter lane for Poynton/A555 traffic which will prevent traffic heading towards Mill Lane or the Rising Sun being held up and getting more traffic through.

The scheme is expected to be started this summer, but is part of a scheme that may take over a year to complete.

Cllr Charles Gibson said at the Committee where the scheme was approved; “It is very clear we are listening to residents concerns and it’s pleasing that we can do something about it.”

I note that the amended construction plans for the Dean Lane / Macclesfield Rd junction no longer include the dedicated right hand turn lane you claim to have tackled!
In fact the left turn section onto Macclesfield Rd has been lost entirely.
How do you now plan to tackle the severe congestion on Dean Lane as cars continue to wait for traffic to exit junction.
