Flooding Update and Drop In Session

As everyone in Hazel Grove experienced, the ward and many surrounding areas experienced excessive amounts of rainfall in late July which led to the flooding of a number of homes and businesses.

The council is commissioning an independent review into the events leading up to the flooding, to understand why it happened and help inform future mitigation efforts. It will also take into account the 2016 flooding and the subsequent actions undertaken. If residents wish to provide information that should be considered by the review then they should send information to [email protected]

Stockport residents who were flooded between 28 July and 9 August 2019 could be eligible for a grant of £200 and a 100% Council Tax freeze for up to 4 months. For more information go to https://www.stockport.gov.uk/flood-grant

Business properties in Stockport that were flooded between 28 July and 9 August 2019, may be able to apply for a temporary reduction in their business rates for 3 months. Application information can be found at  https://www.stockport.gov.uk/flood-grant/business-rates-flood-grant

Finally there is a drop in session to discuss the flooding at Hazel Grove Civic Hall on Thursday the 29th August – Hazel Grove Civic Hall, London Road, Hazel Grove, SK7 4RF from 4.00p.m to 7.30pm
