A recent report of a nasty fall at the Pelican Crossing on Torkington Road was caused by the road surface wearing badly.

Cllr Jon Twigge said “While the wear in the road surface did not meet the normal conditions for immediate action, given the location at the Pelican crossing it was important to get this fixed before anyone else was badly hurt crossing the road.

“In cases like this where there is an immediate danger to the public, officers can respond quickly and the road was patched within a few days of the report.”
